Cardi was approximating Cruella as she appeared in the 1961 Disney animated film 101 Dalmatians, in which she was voiced by Betty Lou Gerson
Glenn Close went on to portray her in two live-action films also made by Disney – 101 Dalmatians, out in 1996, and 102 Dalmatians, which was released four years later. In 2003, Disney made a direct-to-video animated sequel to the 1961 movie, 101 Dalmatians II: Patch’s London Adventure, with Susanne Blakeslee as Cruella.
