They sometimes grace the front row on runways of New York, Paris, and Milan and are often quoted for their pieces of advice regarding fashion. They are fondly referred to as fashion icons, the benchmarks of beauty, elegance, style, and glamour.

In this article, we chose the 8 fashion icons who have dared to change the face of fashion and created a huge impact while doing it.

 

Giovanna Battaglia 

Giovanna Battaglia is an Italian fashion editor, stylist, and creative director living in New York City. Deemed a “cyber icon” and “fashion heroine” by the New York Times, Giovanna is currently Contributing Fashion Editor at W Magazine, Senior Fashion Editor at Vogue Japan, and the Creative Director of the Queen of the Night. 

She began her career in fashion as a model for D&G. After working with the designers for several years, she aspired to become a stylist, starting as a fashion editor at L’Uomo Vogue under  Anna Dello Russo. She then began contributing to other Condé Nast publications, including Vogue China, Vogue Paris, and, later newer publications such as Garage Magazine. In 2009, Battaglia was named Fashion Director of Vogue Gioiello andVogue Pelle under Editor-in-Chief Franca Sozzani. In 2011, Battaglia moved from Milan to Manhattan to work for W Magazine and began her monthly column Gio’s Journal.

Chiara Feragni

Chiara Ferragni inherited from her mother a passion for fashion and photography. When she was a teenager, she already became popular on the first online communities, where she shared photos she took with her friends. In 2009, when blogs were not yet the phenomenon of today, she launched TheBlondeSalad.com, as a full expression of herself. Today, Chiara Ferragni collaborates with major fashion houses and designer brands, she fronts the cover of the most-read magazines worldwide.

She was described as a “fashion maniac”, Anna Dello Russo is currently the Editor At Large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan. Anna spent 18 years at Conde Nast Italia starting as a Fashion Editor at Vogue Italia she went on to become Editor of L’Uomo Vogue from 2000-2006. She is an avid collector of fashion and jewelry and describes herself as a passionate fashionista.
